School is one of the most important places where a young person learns about their future career options. Warlingham School & Sixth Form College works in partnership with Surrey Careers Hub, The Careers & Enterprise Company, Innervate and our Enterprise Adviser, Lyndsey Gallagher, Chief Executive Officer at the Gallagher Group to build a modern, twenty-first century careers education programme.
Our partners provide invaluable support to all students in the school by advising us on the strengths and areas for development of our careers programme to:
- Deliver impartial careers guidance and key transitions workshops
- Increase local connections and knowledge for employer encounters
- Provide a safe and secure work experience programme
- Ensuring we meet the eight key Gatsby Benchmarks to ensure that our students receive the best careers education we can provide to support them to take their best next step out of education and into the world of work.

Gallagher Group
As part of the support from the Coast to Capital Careers Hub, we are so fortunate to be able to work closely with Lyndsey Gallagher, the Chief Operating Officer for Gallagher Group. Her role is to support the school from a business perspective, to give advice and guidance on the careers programme as well as provide employer encounters, support events and work experience. Lyndsey is also lending her expertise to support staff to deliver careers in the curriculum and inspire our students to strive for the best future they can have.
About Lyndsey Gallagher
Lyndsey’s path to her current job has not been without its obstacles. At the age of 27, Lyndsey overcame Dyslexia to become the first woman to graduate from the University of Kent with a First-Class Honours Degree in Construction Management. She has met with gender discrimination in her quest for a job, at one point sending out 100 letters and attending 98 interviews to not receive a single opportunity for even unpaid work. Lyndsey was even told “You’ll never get a job in construction because you are a woman.” She has gone on to prove these doubters wrong! She was offered a Trainee Assistant Site Manager job and has gone on from there.
One of the biggest highlights of her career so far was working on One Hyde Park, the world’s most expensive residential building in Europe at the time. Once Lyndsey had proved her worth to herself and others, she made the decision to go and work for the family business in order to support her father where, again, she had to prove herself to those around her that she deserved to be there on her own merit, not because of who she was. Not one to run from a challenge, during the pandemic Lyndsey decided to achieve her Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Building Masters Degree.
