College Student Leadership Team Events
Warlingham Sixth Form College has had an exciting start to the term with a number of events to date.
On Tuesday 27th September, the Year 13 Student Leadership Team organised a BBQ to welcome the new Year 12 students into life at the College. Despite the rain, it was lovely to see students socialising together at lunchtime and, of course, enjoy a burger or two from the comfort of the College Lounge.
On Wednesday 28th September, it was great to start the day with an assembly from Mrs Salem who runs the Community Sports Leadership Award enrichment programme for Year 12 students. This gives the students an opportunity to support primary school students with developing their skills in a range of different activities centred around PE. Not only does it support primary school students, but also the Year 12s who develop skills of leadership through the award. The assembly celebrated the achievements of last year’s students who succeeded in gaining the qualification and special awards were given to Beth B, Chris C and Amy C who all demonstrated exceptional commitment to the programme and fully supported the running of a number of successful events. Congratulations to all those students who participated.
The week ended with another successful event organised by the Student Leadership Team who promoted and ran a cake sale in honour of MacMillan Coffee Morning. The prefects did a fantastic job of encouraging staff, students and parents to donate cakes and sell them to very willing customers. In the process, they also raised a total of £281 for a very worthwhile cause. Many thanks to all those involved and congratulations to the Student Leadership Team who have made an excellent start to the term. We look forward to the events that they will continue to organise throughout the rest of the year.
